Those consultancies have non-Malaysian country managers who are younger than ThreeSixtyOne consultants, less experienced in Asian business let alone Malaysian conditions, and are usually in the country just as a stepping stone to their next assignment. These managers will market to compatriots who manage other multinational companies and by and large, they will work well together. We don't see that any of these client companies would see real value in selecting ThreeSixtyOne and thus, with our own resources being scarce, we do not make cold (sales) calls on those kinds of companies.

What's the big deal about being fully - and legitimately - Malaysian?
In the past, Malaysia did not have all the necessary local expertise to be able to conduct a full, research-based consulting project without non-Malaysian input. In the twenty-first century, almost fifty years since independence, this is no longer the case. However, for some reason, many decision-makers, usually the very young and the pretty old, continue to believe that only multinational companies and non-Asians have what it takes to do a good job. At the same time, fortunately for ThreeSixtyOne , a host of companies - local ones as well as those based outside Malaysia - have independently decided to seek Malaysian competitors to the multinational options and all have been pleasantly surprised when they found ThreeSixtyOne.
